Gayngs es el proyecto musical creado por el músico Ryan Olson (Digitata, Mel Gibson & The Pants, Building Better Bombs) junto a una larga nómina de colaboradores de distintas procedencias y estilos musicales: Zach Coulter, Adam Hurlburt, Shön Troth (Solid Gold), Justin Vernon y Mike Noyce (Bon Iver), Michael Lewis (Andrew Bird), Ivan Howard (The Rosebuds), Joe Westerlund, Brad Cook y Phil Cook (Megafaun) y así hasta 25 músicos. Tras varias sesiones de grabación realizadas durante meses en distintos lugares se publica en el sello Jagjaguwar Relayted, el primer álbum de este auténtico supergrupo y candidato a disco del año según el periódico británico The Guardian.

Pasaron por aquí con su primer álbum y tres años después vuelven cuando están a punto de publicar el segundo. Canasta, el sexteto de Chicago fundado por Matt Priest y Elizabeth Landau continúa desarrollando su elegante pop orquestal en The Fakeout, The Tease and The Breather, aunque en un tono más oscuro y dramático. Mexico City y I Don't Know Where I Was Going With This son dos de sus canciones.

O'Spada. Pay Off

El 19 de mayo se publica, por fin, el primer álbum de O'Spada, el quinteto sueco comandado por la poderosa voz de Julia Spada y habitulales de Planeta Pop. Pay Off, además de dar nombre al disco, es el nuevo single del grupo, continuación de los fantásticos Time y Ten Strikes.

Parades

Además de regalarnos el año pasado un destacable debut en solitario, el australiano Jonathan Boulet ejerce de batería en otra formación llamada Parades. Creada en 2001 junto a Daniel Cunningham, Tim Jenkins y Michael Scarpin, compañeros de colegio de Boulet, a los que se unieron en 2008 los teclistas Alyx Dennison y Freya Berkhout, el grupo ha sufrido una transformación total durante estos años. De sus orígenes hardcore a un sonido mucho más atmósferico y experimental reflejado en Foreign Tapes, su debut. Past Lives fue su primer single, al que sucede Loserspeak In New Tongue, canción ilustrada con este gran vídeo que puedes ver aquí.

Pop melódico de delicada factura el que nos trae desde Melbourne (Australia) este cuarteto llamado Oh Mercy. Formado en 2006 e integrado por Alexander Gow, Thomas Savages, Eliza Lam y Rohan Sforcinaon, el grupo debuta este año con el álbum Privileged Woes.
